YouTube transcripts, plain text out.
Paste a URL, get a transcript back in TXT, SRT, VTT, or JSON. Works with any video's existing captions — and falls back to AI audio transcription when there are none.
What it does
A single endpoint that turns a video into text — no browser extension, no watching, no manual copying.
Existing captions, when they're there
Pulls the video's caption track (auto-generated or human-authored, any language YouTube provides) and returns it in the format you asked for.
AI transcription, when they're not
If a video has no captions, we extract the audio and run it through AssemblyAI. You get the same output shape as the caption path — no separate flow to learn.
Four output formats
TXT for reading, SRT and VTT for subtitle players, JSON for further processing. One request, one file, download.
Credit-based, pay-as-you-go
1 credit per caption fetch. Audio transcription costs by clip length (roughly 1 credit per 20 s of audio, minimum 3). No subscription, no wasted spend on months you don't use it.
Pricing
One credit ≈ $0.013 at the Growth tier. Credits from any paid pack never expire.
